The study programme has been developed with regard to the demand for specialists who are able to efficiently apply finance and accounting information systems in IT companies. Currently, information is becoming a product, and, within the production process, it is as significant as raw produce, energy and work tools.
The main feature of this study programme is the integrity of management and information technology sciences as well as the application of information technologies while organising business within a specific field, i.e. information resource management in various fields of formal communication.
Aim
The aim of the programme is to prepare qualified specialists who have deep knowledge of information system technologies as well as management and business administration. The programme comprises studies on the creation, design and implementation of business information systems, re-engineering of information systems, principles of management and administration of traditional and e-business, problems and their solutions.
Learning outcomes
A graduate of “Business Information Systems” study programme is able to economically ground directions for introduction of information technologies and necessary tools, administer IT projects of private and public sector, administer processes of restructuring and design of information systems. He/she is able to analyze formal areas of creating information systems, specify customer requirements, design, exploit and professionally evaluate information systems.
Distinctive features of the study programme
The most important goal of the study programme is to prepare qualified business specialists, filling a market gap which emerges in between classical managers and information system designers, analysts and creators.

When studying special course units of the study direction you will acquire knowledge about specialised methods and skills in applying knowledge of business information management. Scientific research starts from Semester 1 and ends with the preparation and defence of the Master thesis.
Career
Graduates can work as business and e-business information system specialists. Graduates are able to administer, carry out or mentor information technology projects in private and public sector, administer processes of information system restructuring, design and migration, economically ground introduction of information technologies and necessary tools.

For students from Ukraine
National University of Food Technologies, Ukraine and Vilnius University, Lithuania have a cooperation agreement on implementation of the Master degree study programme in Information Systems in Business. The cooperation agreement provides the students from National University of Food Technologies with the opportunity to study at both universities concurrently. The students who successfully complete the study programme requirements of both Universities and defend their Master Theses at both institutions as settled in the study programme will be awarded two diplomas, a Vilnius University diploma and a National University of Food Technologies diploma.

Costs
- Tuition fee per year: 922.15 Eur
- Public transport monthly pass: 5.33 Eur (with student discount)
- Accommodation: approx. 60-95 Eur per month in the dormitory (more expensive in single/ private apartments)
- All additional expenses, including health insurance, shall be covered by the students themselves
Admission
The applicants wishing to participate in the study programme at Vilnius University according to this Agreement submit the required admission documents to their home university, i.e. National University of Food Technologies. National University of Food Technologies sends the submitted documents to Vilnius University. The admission of students will be carried out in compliance with the rules established by Vilnius University. The accepted students will sign the study contract for self-funded studies at Vilnius University.
