Aim

Observing today’s 1st cycle study programmes in Lithuania, it is obvious that no Lithuanian University prepares specialists of informatics and information technologies, who have specific skills and competences in cyber security. The aim of this study programme is to prepare specialists of information systems and cyber security with fundamental and applied knowledge of informatics engineering, to develop their skills necessary for a secure analysis, design, creation and maintenance of information systems

Learning outcomes:

  • Knows the main conceptions and terms of information system engineering, understands possible application areas and knows the scope of a subject.
  • Is able to apply fundamental knowledge of algorithms theory and data structure, linear algebra and mathematical analysis, discrete mathematics, system theory and statistics in information systems engineering. Knows the latest security components, basic structure, assessment criteria and fundamentals of administration, effective firewall conceptions, architecture (packet filters, stateful packet inspection, proxy), content scanning (antivirus), able to identify hackings and carry out prevention, apply (IDS, IPS) systems; able to adapt security measures to network architecture, tunnelling (L2TP and PPTP, IPSEC aspects),web applications, effective firewalls and other measures for ensuring security in the network.
  • Knows how to practically apply research methodology on internet offences, knows legal regulations of cyber security, information security management and security risk management.
  • Is able to carry out research or analytical work specifying processes occurring in a computerized subject-specific area, customer requirements, designing, programming or introducing secure information systems.
  • Is able to analyze and formalize information flows in a business company, to determine and technologically ground IT introduction directions and necessary tools for that, design, introduce, create, exploit and professionally evaluate secure information systems, provide service for information technology users and train them.
  • Is able to understand and analyze subject-specific area of information systems; processes of creation, design, re-design (re-engineering, and reversed engineering) and realization, able to apply methods and measures, effectively exploit information system hardware and software.
  • Is able to design secure computer infrastructure and securely programme.
  • Is able to identify gaps of incorrect programming, common attack class DoS, DDoS, file access, local/distant code implementations, buffer overloading, WEB security gaps (OWASP TOP 10), is able to carry out fuzz testing of applied software, knows Burp Suite; understands WEB component security, forms, management of sessions, cookies, authentication configurations; knows the subtleties of OS security context, phishing, management of sessions, replay attacks; is able to analyze PHP gaps, Java application gaps, to ensure security in hard internal servers.
  •  Is able to carry out manual and semi-automatic testing of PĮ by identifying security gaps and vulnerable areas; knows how to use the latest methods and tools for proactive identification of gaps, as well as the application of reverse engineering.
  • Is able to analyze IT problems, to propose and apply secure information system solutions in practice.
  • Is able to understand computer architecture, apply programming languages, technologies for presenting information on the internet, will be able to design information system architecture and databases, create information systems not only for traditional but also mobile technologies.

The study programme is carried out by professional specialists experienced in information systems and cyber security, who give lectures in foreign universities and work in international and Lithuanian business companies or state organizations, where students will have the opportunity to carry out their professional practice. The study process includes innovative, distant learning methods.
