Aim
MA study programme “Lithuanian Literature” aims at preparing highly qualified specialists of literature who would have knowledge of the development of Lithuanian literature, could apply various methodologies of humanities when analysing literary works, freely dispose the data and theory of the World literature, intellectual cultural paradigms of artistic experiences, have knowledge of dissemination of literature, be able to create academic, critical, publicist and other texts, be ready to pursue individual research work.
Learning outcomes:
A graduate is able to investigate the genetics, history structure, functions, literary phenomena of literary texts produced in different epochs within cultural as well as social context; can formulate and solve the problems of literary science, apply knowledge by conceptualizing models of literary science, knows the history of Lithuanian literature, contemporary research problematic, apply research theories and methodologies; knows dissemination process of literary works and business of literary texts, reader anthropology, principles of text, audience interoperability, reception, tendency in literary texts; may carry out research, create texts, projects of public communication; plan and organize individual learning and work with regard to ever-changing environment; realize the importance of lifelong learning and creativity development; able to work in team and mobilise co-workers; plan complex team work, adjust it to current situation; think systematically, analytically, critically; produce creative ideas, work innovatively, suggest original problem solutions.
Distinctive features of the study programme
The programme develops high-profile literary scholars who have knowledge of the specifics of Lithuanian literature, able to apply different methodologies of humanities and create academic, critical, publicist and other texts. Subject-specific structure of the programme is logical and consistent, corresponding to the tendencies in contemporary Lithuanian literary studies, i.e. to preserve the starting from micro-details of text organization into meaningful whole, ending with the level of global literary meta-dialogue.

Graduates of the programme may work as literary scholars, literary critics;
editors in various editing offices and publishing houses of books and other publications; practical work in modern public communication, production and functioning market, archives, museums, libraries, etc.
