The Research Council of Lithuania seeks to create favourable conditions for students of Lithuanian research and higher education institutions to become acquainted with the international academic environment that encourages student involvement in scientific research. At the same time, students are given the opportunity to present their academic interests, establish connections with international student communities and researchers, and foster international cooperation. To support this goal, the Council reimburses the expenses of students participating in summer school programmes abroad.
Eligibility – Bachelor’s and Master’s level students whose weighted average grade for all subjects taken in the most recent semester is not lower than 8.0 (on a 10-point scale).
At the time of application and throughout the summer school period, students must have a valid study agreement with Vilnius University.
Summer school period – The start and end dates of the summer school programmes are determined individually by the institutions organising the programmes. Therefore, they may not coincide with the summer holiday periods of Lithuanian or foreign higher education institutions.
Application deadline: July 4, 2025.
Maximum funding per student – €3,000
Eligible expenses:
• Summer school programme participation fee;
• Accommodation costs during the summer school programme;
• Travel expenses to and from the foreign country (excluding local transport);
• Travel insurance and visa acquisition costs.
Expenses are reimbursable from the date of payment of the summer school participation fee until the date of return from the country where the summer school was held, which may be no more than two days after the end date of the programme.

Applications must be submitted in Lithuanian.
The following documents must be submitted with the application:
• A copy of a valid passport or national ID card of an EU country;
• A statement of academic records that meets the requirements set out in Clause 5 of the Guidelines;
• A confirmation from the foreign institution organizing the summer school that the student has been invited (selected) to participate and that the participation fee has been paid (contact a project specialist for this point);
• The official brochure of the summer school programme and, if available, the programme schedule;
• A motivation letter explaining the need to participate in the selected summer school programme abroad, how the program content relates to the student’s field of study, and the expected benefits of participation.
Each student may submit only one application during the application period and may indicate only one summer school programme taking place in the same calendar year.
