Aim of the programme

The aim of the study programme is to train qualified translation specialists with solid Lithuanian and first foreign language (English) background as well as knowledge in second (German) and third (French or Russian) foreign language, fundamental knowledge of English philology and research skills, IT competences, which will allow them to translate competently and adapt audiovisual products to different target audiences.

Learning outcomes

Having completed the study programme, the graduates will: acquire the C1-C2 level English and Lithuanian knowledge and skills, theoretical translation background, practical translation skills; be able to use specialized information technologies; have communication skills of second and third foreign language (B1 and A2 levels respectively), essential knowledge and competences in the field of philology; understand the history and culture as well as audiovisual art of English-speaking countries.

6) Audiovisual translation;

Features of the study programme

The study programme is interdisciplinary: it is a combination of philological and information technology studies. The main part of the study programme is dedicated to practice in the specialized audiovisual translation laboratory and practical activities with social partners. Parallel studies in English philology are integrated in this study programme, thus the graduates acquire a double degree in translation and English philology. The majority of subjects are delivered in English and all the informatics, cinema art, the Lithuanian language subjects as well as some of the linguistics and literature subjects are delivered in Lithuanian. Practice placement in selected institutions is undertaken during the fourth year of studies.

Parallel studies

Parallel English philology studies are integrated in this study programme. The graduates acquire a double translation and English philology degree.
