This study programme was prepared with the focus on the growing demand for specialists in marketing and trade management who possess theoretical as well as practical skills. Market research carried out in the country revealed what competences of graduates of marketing and trade management are most required by the managers of Lithuanian companies, the opinion of graduates as well as students who are about to begin their studies in this study programme. This programme was prepared on the basis of objective demand of the market as well as theoretical and methodological requirements for this kind of programmes.
The aim of the study programme:
To prepare high-profile specialists in marketing and trade management with the ability to perceive the organisation of marketing, trade and logistics processes; prepare actual projects and programmes, analytically and critically asses market changes; integrate knowledge of various scientific fields with the focus on solving the problems of organizations marketing and trade management within the framework of international management.
Learning outcomes
A graduate of the study programme “Marketing and Trade Management” has skills in organizing marketing, trade and market research processes as well as ability to prepare actual projects and programmes either individually or in a team. He is able to analytically and critically assess market changes, can determine the market, customer needs knows how the company should work so that it would meet these needs in an ever-changing external as well as internal environment, can creatively interpret received results and use different theoretical paradigms and internet marketing technologies by making strategic and tactical solutions in different spheres of marketing and trade management, is able to communicate either in written or in verbal form within the cross-cultural environment.
Distinctive features of the study programme
The study programme is oriented towards interdisciplinary subjects and unites interrelated studies of marketing, trade and management, which are relevant to business. Students of the programme are provided with the systematic approach towards the coordination and management of marketing, trade and management activities in an organization seeking to create added value for an organization. The study programme is considerably flexible and allows students to choose alternative courses to some extent and pursue studies of marketing, trade, management more intensively, to further deepen their understanding of intercultural differences and international similarities, especially related to differences on value system, perception and behaviour speaking about race, ethnicity, religion, gender, taking into consideration social variety.
Master students’ participation in (the Department’s) scientific research and conferences:
Master students participate in the annual Prof. Dr. V. Gronskas scientific conference for master and PhD students “Development of Economy: Theory and Practice”; also, they take part in conferences and seminars organised by other universities where they can introduce and discuss the insights of their scientific research and share ideas with other young scientists and lecturers.
Master students are involved in the Department’s scientific research together with their scientific advisers by preparing and writing their MA theses: they analyse separate aspects of scientific research carried out in the Department.

Having finished this study programme, students acquire knowledge and skills necessary for their successful competition in the market within the fields of marketing, trade and management. Graduates of the programme may work as marketing, market research or trade specialists, consultants, project managers in national, international organizations as well as state institutions. Moreover, graduates of marketing may pursue PhD studies in the fields of Management and Administration (S03) and Economics (S04).

Aim
The aim of the programme is to prepare high quality specialists of software systems, who meet the requirements of the Lithuanian economy, who are able to create and export software products and services and who manage to successfully compete in IT job market in the EU and other foreign countries.
Learning outcomes
Graduates of the programme will be able to analyze economical, social, ethical and legal effect of solutions to people, organizations and society; able to discern new possibilities for software systems application, to evaluate the effect of knowledge within the scope of application, the complexity of problems and viability of their solutions; able to select and employ suitable contemporary methods, models, problem solution samples, skills and tools necessary for the design and maintenance of software systems, including new scopes of application; will be able to employ current technical and software equipment, identify, comprehend and apply prospective technologies; will be able to plan, design and carry out experiments and other practical research, analyze and interpret data; will be able to formulate rational, effective variants of problem solution in terms of timing and costs, based on the most significant knowledge and methods of costs and productivity assessment.
Distinctive features of the study programme
Theoretical courses in the programme are in convergence with practical applications, teamwork and good timing is stressed. Lecturers in the programme are scholars, experts in their research areas, having experience in creating software systems for Lithuanian as well as foreign clients. The programme meets European as well as US accreditation requirements for study programmes of software systems. A wide list of elective modules and flexible possibilities to choose them enables students to specialize. Students can easily find a job as software system specialists even during their study years.

Graduates of the programme can work as analysts, designers, programmers in large projects based on the latest technologies, and in virtual enterprises. After gaining more practical experience, they may work as project managers in private and state sectors in Lithuania and abroad. Graduates may also establish a private IT company, manage small teams, independently comprehend new methods and technologies, and to apply them in practice.

The aim of the study programme is to prepare businessmen, business representatives, who have knowledge of the principles of creating business, are able to manage and develop business, analyze business management processes as an indivisible complex system.
Learning outcomes
Graduates of the programme are able to creatively apply theoretical knowledge of business management to practice and flexibly react to changes; to apply innovations when generating new business ideas, managing, motivating employees, negotiating with business partners; are able to evaluate business environment situation, forecast tendencies in business development; are able to apply skills of management activities (planning, organizing, management and control); are able to make suitable marketing solutions in business; are able to analyze business management processes, their pros and cons, to propose innovations when creating a higher value business processes; know how carry out research, analyze and systemize information; are able to communicate when presenting their abilities, given service, or when consulting; are able to adapt their activities to the activities of other group members, to evaluate one’s contribution within the context of team’s activities as well as the work done by the whole team and its results; are able to express their thoughts in a consistent and reasoned manner in a written as well as in an oral form (either in Lithuanian or a foreign language)
Distinctive features
After changing the conception of teaching courses, focusing more on the development of competences rather than the contents and diversifying study and assessment methods, it became possible to develop competences in shorter period of time. Since the courses which develop the competences outlined in the study programme are taught in 7 semesters, the duration of studies becomes 3,5 years.
Business Management study programme aims at developing a personality who is ethic, social, creative, able to adapt to the ever changing environment, possessing a business-oriented worldview, motivated to constantly educate himself/herself and to attain his/her goals, able to adequately evaluate oneself as well as others, all the activities as well as their results.
The programme develops subject-specific competences: business, management, marketing. All the competences developed in the study programme are equally important and determine a future specialist’s professional flexibility in the market.
End of studies
The programme is finished with the preparation of the final Bachelor thesis. Those who successfully finish the studies are awarded with a Bachelor degree in Business and Management.
Graduates of the programme may pursue MA studies in social sciences.

Graduates of the study programme will possess sufficient amount of knowledge and skills to pursue individual businesses (irrespective of business registration nature), integrate themselves into the highest level structures of already established business organizations.
