Vilnius University (VU) has opened admissions for international students for the academic year 2026. VU, one of the oldest and most prestigious higher education institutions in Europe, offers students over 70 Bachelor's and Master's study programmes, along with two prestigious Arqus Joint Master’s Programmes, which provide an opportunity to acquire education in several European countries. At the Kaunas Faculty of Vilnius University (VU KnF), which has been fostering the spirit of a classical university for over 60 years, the focus on new technologies has intensified in recent years. The Kaunas Faculty differs from other faculties at Vilnius University in that it brings together researchers and lecturers from various fields, and most of the study programmes offered are interdisciplinary, combining knowledge from the humanities (languages, translation), social sciences (economics, management, finance), and computer science.
This year, VU has welcomed over 750 international students, many of whom have chosen popular study programmes such as Medicine, Information Systems and Cyber Security, Management, Global Marketing, Software Engineering, and other programmes.
“VU Kaunas Faculty is an integral part of this youthful and vibrant city. The ever-growing international student community chooses Vilnius University in Kaunas not only for the quality of studies, active leisure, and community spirit, but also for the clear opportunities for professional growth. Ongoing cooperation with other universities and business organisations helps students stay in touch with current labour market trends and often allows them to find a job while still studying,” says Assoc. Prof. Giedrius Romeika, the Dean of Kaunas Faculty.
This year, international students at the Kaunas Faculty can choose from the following Bachelor's degree programmes: Economics and Management, Information Systems and Cyber Security, Language and Artificial Intelligence Management, and Marketing Technologies. For those wishing to pursue a Master's degree, the following study programmes are available: International Business Management, Sustainable Finance Economics, and, newly added, Art Management.
“I wanted to understand how technology shapes and protects our world. My studies gave me the skills and passion to build secure, innovative digital solutions that guide my journey today,” says Turan Garashli (Azerbaijan), alumni of the Bachelor's study programme Information Systems and Cyber Security, and a MSc Technology Management Student at University College London.
“I’m passionate about how technology can enhance human communication; this field has helped me develop both technical and linguistic skills that guide me towards a career in artificial intelligence,” says Ayyoub Rahmani (Morocco), a first-year student of the Bachelor's study programme Language and AI Management.
“What drove me to pursue my studies is that it aligns with my interests and future goals in the music industry,” says Ayman Azaryah (Morocco), a student of the Master's study programme Art Management, who shares his creations on YouTube as @AzarMusic.
“I wanted a broader, global perspective on tackling various challenges in the business world. Now I am certain that my passion is to promote sustainable business growth and development throughout my professional career,” says Sandra Adeoye (Nigeria), the second-year student of the Master's study programme International Business Management, who runs her own business in her home country.
Lectures are delivered to students not only by University lecturers and Lithuanian and international scientists, but also by experienced practitioners who are leaders in their respective professional fields. Students participate in scientific projects, conferences, competitions, and idea hackathons, analyse problems relevant to business and society in their research work, and propose solutions to address them. From the second semester onwards, students can opt for individual studies, choosing from all subjects taught at Vilnius University faculties, which allows them to create their own study plan. A large number of students at the Faculty start working in their field while still studying. Not only computer science students, but also students of social sciences and humanities learn how to use IT and AI tools professionally.
Based on this year’s QS University Rankings, VU remains the leading university in Lithuania and stands out for the high employability of its graduates, ranking 93rd worldwide. VU also stands out for its favourable student-to-academic staff ratio and improved scores in sustainability and international research collaborations.
Moreover, Kaunas, where one of the University's satellite campuses is situated, is recognised as one of the top student cities in Europe. It ranks 41st in “The Campus Advisor” rating and offers not only high-quality studies, but also inexpensive living, a friendly community, and a safe environment. Furthermore, the location of the Kaunas Faculty of Vilnius University on the banks of the Nemunas River, in the heart of Kaunas Old Town, provides a unique everyday experience.
