Final meeting of the international project HEUROPA partners

On 15-16 October, 2013, Vilnius University Kaunas Faculty of Humanities held the final meeting of the international project HEUROPA partners. The organisers of the meeting were the associate professors in the Department of Lithuanian Philology Saulė Juzelėnienė and Rita Baranauskienė. The partners of the projects are scientists from Dresden University of Technology and University of Prague as well as representatives from language teaching centres in Krakow, Paris and London.

During the project, an interactive language learning portal was created for bilingual children and their parents speaking other languages so they could learn the Lithuanian, Czech and Polish languages. With attention paid to the particularity of the pupils, i.e. bilingualism, a set of special methods was used to develop language teaching and learning tasks. The teaching material was related to the children who have some knowledge of the target language; thus, the language learning level was at A2-B1. The bilingual children who spoke Lithuanian, Czech or Polish and their other language speaking parents are encourage to use interactive means during the learning process employing games and relating the teaching material with age-dependent fields of interest.
