Erasmus+ Programme Offered the Most Memorable Training

erasmus khf RumunijaI’m a third year cultural management student. Every year I find more and more opportunities to put myself to the test, get to know foreign cultures and pick up new ideas. This year I went to Romania, Craiova for a week taking part in Erasmus+ programme „Delegate Ownership on Social Responsibility“. I can honestly say  it was easily the best and the most memorable training. I have taken part in many various seminars both in Lithuania and abroad, however, none of them created such a lasting value.

An Incredible Experience of Erasmus Studies

I am Sintija Kivlina, a fourth-year student of Cultural Management in VU Kaunas Faculty of Humanities. During my third year of studies I went to Middlesex University in London via Erasmus Student Exchange Programme. I am very proud of this fact since it encapsulates an incredible experience I had.

The people I met in that miraculous Island have brought fresh and new breeze into my daily life. On the other hand, this trip tested me on some challenging occasions when I had to make rational and immediate decisions alone.

If being honest, I made my decision to apply for the programme a day before the deadline. I thought to myself: “nothing ventured, nothing gained in London”. And I did it: two months later I was in London, Middlesex University.

I was excited since I did not know what the destiny had in store for me – I was about to live alone for six months without the people I knew. I also felt a bit concerned about courses on politics which were carried out in English. Yes, politics! Yet, now I can confirm, it sounds worse than it actually was. It was very useful to attend such lectures where the targets for discussion were the EU, global, economic, educational and ecologic problems.

I was relieved that the lecturers regarded me, a student of Cultural Management, and other „erasmusers“, very positively and thoughtfully, always considering the fact that we had never had any courses on politics in our curriculum. Yet, over time I came to understand that through these courses my days were becoming more and more interesting, loaded with new information and knowledge.

This at first alien environment became so homely to me that I did not even notice how my studies in London came to an end. Every day London offered me something new and enriching. I made friends with locals, as well as foreigners from exotic countries. For the first time in my life I spent so many hours in a library. The reasons might be the load of work I had to do for studies and the environment itself. You could almost live in that library: it was open 24/7!

It is difficult to name the greatest advantage of Erasmus studies… On top of it all, this experience changes the way people perceive the environment, strengthens your values and tests you on various occasions.

If there are still those who doubt about this venture, please answer yourselves: “If not now, when?” The essential thing is to be open for new challenges!
