AUTHOR GUIDELINES

SUBMISSION AND REVIEW PROCESS

Manuscripts should be written by Master & PhD students together with their supervisors as well as at young scientists, researchers, practitioners, academics (usually holding a PhD).

Manuscripts should be written in English. A manuscript should not exceed more than 5000 words and 10 pages, with the CEUR ART style conference template 1-column style. 

All the papers must be submitted to conference paper management system (Easychair) and accompanied by the Copyright Transfer Form (TBA).

Submissions will be handled electronically through the conference web site. Submissions must be original and should not have been published previously. Submitted papers must conform to the format of proceedings publication. All papers will be peer-reviewed by the International Program Committee, judged with respect to their quality, originality, and relevance to session topics.

The reviewing process of submitted papers will be single-blind. The final version of the paper must be prepared and resubmitted considering the remarks of the reviewer.

PUBLICATIONS

After the conference the authors will have the opportunity to revise and extend their papers. Conference post-proceedings shall be submitted to CEUR-WS.org for online publication.

FEES AND ATTENDANCE

The attendance of conference is free.

Due to circumstances (including COVID-19 related issues), conference participants will have the opportunity to present their scientific works remotely.

The official language of the joint conference is English.

Whom are we looking for?

PhD students and young researchers from all disciplines who are using methods from applied linguistics in their research are welcomed. Methods may include, but are not limited to:

• qualitative and quantitative linguistic analysis

• interview, textual, content, narrative analysis

Presenters will receive a certificate for delivering the seminar and attending all 10 seminars. We will do our best to make it possible for presenters to receive ECTS credits in accordance with the program of their home university. We will keep you posted!

Structure of the seminar

We welcome participants from fields including, but not limited to: linguistics, literature, translation studies, language teaching and acquisition, sociolinguistics, business communication, forensic linguistics, philosophy of language and other prospective researchers.

After being introduced by the organizational team, which will chair the event, the presenters are invited to hold a seminar of 45 to 60 minutes.
The seminar may be either in the form of a talk, interactive and include questions or exercises for the audience, or a combination of all of the above.
In the seminar, participants are invited to present their research project, the linguistic methodology that they applied or will apply as well as expected or preliminary results. They may also present benefits and/or pitfalls and other possible applications of the chosen method/s. Problems or open questions are welcome to spur a discussion. PowerPoint slides or other visual elements are always welcome, but not necessary.  The focus of the presentation should be on the method. Your presentation and the content is what counts.

Aspects that may constitute your presentation:

• the research outline
• a pilot study
• a software used in the analysis (e.g. a corpus tool)
• examples of the analysis conducted
• interdisciplinary aspects of their method, etc.

This seminar will be followed by a 25- to30-minute discussion with the audience.
We will invite guests like professors and experts in linguistics to participate and to share their expertise. Participants are welcome to invite professors or supervisors, be it from linguistics or other fields.

Application and deadlines

Applicants must be PhD candidates (at any year and level of education), or young researchers who have already defended their dissertation.

The motivational letter must contain an overview of the research project, an outline of the methodology and its use or intended use.

The deadline for the application is October 22 (included). Successful applicants will be notified by October 29.
The schedule will be finalized in accordance with the presenters’ availability. The seminars will take place during the months of October, November, and December 2023.

The seminars are open to registered listeners only and will not be recorded. Screenshots of the attendees of the seminars are a requirement of Arqus Alliance for documentation purposes and will not be used for dissemination. We want to provide and spur fruitful exchange. Unless the presenters have consented to share an element of their presentation the attendees are required to respect absolute confidentiality.

ABOUT PROF. V. GRONSKAS

Professor Vladas Gronskas

1940-2010

Professor Vladas Gronskas was a long-standing member of the community of Vilnius University Evening Faculty (now Kaunas Faculty) (from 1965 till his retirement). The research interest of this eminent figure covered a wide range of issues in Economic Theory, in particular the issues of interaction between the supply of goods to the market and the production of goods for family consumption under the conditions of mixed economy.

The Professor was determined to follow his chosen scientific path; in 1973, he defended his doctoral thesis and in 1985-habilitation thesis. During the time, Gronskas was awarded the tittle of Associate Professor and Professor. From 1983 to 1993, he held the position of the Head of the Department of Political Economy, supervised doctoral dissertations of PhD students, participated in dissertation defences as a member of the board or as opponent, and gave lectures. Moreover, it was Kaunas Faculty, where he was the first lecturer in Lithuania to give lectures on Economic Theory (in particular, Microeconomic). The theories taught were engaging and useful not only for the student but also for lecturers in the field of Economy and PhD students form other universities in Kaunas.

Gronskas was also a member of the editorial board of the scientific journal Engineering Economic (Ižinerinė ekonomika), published nine monographs: The Mechanism of the Economic Self-Accounting (Ūkiskaitos mechanizmas), 1981; Structure of Societal Reproduction (Visuomenės reprodukcijos struktūra), 1983; Business Economy (Verslo Ekonomika), 1993; Business, Pseudo-business, Anti-business (Verslas, pseudoverslas, antiverslas), 1995; Risks of Commercial Entrepreneurship (Prekinės verslininkystės rizika) , 1997; Commercial Entrepreneurship and Natural Economic Activities (Prekinė verslininkystė ir natūrinė ūkinė veikla), 2001; and Economic Analysis (Ekonominė analizė), 2005. The Professor also published two educational books The Fundamentals of the History of Economic Thought (Ekonominės minties istorijos pagrindai), 2007 and Fragments of the History of Economic Thought (Ekonominės minties istorijos fragmentai), 2011, as well as a number of others teaching tools and over 100 academic articles.

However, if you wish to present your paper and have it considered for publication in the peer-reviewed electronic periodical "Culture & Creativity"—a part of the Vilnius University Open Series—please ensure you submit your work. One paper will be chosen by the Scientific Committee for the opportunity to be published in the peer-reviewed scientific periodical, "Acta Academiae Artium Vilnensis (AAAV)". Remember to register by the 10th of November, 2023.

Guidelines for Authors 

The reviewing process

All articles submitted for publication will be reviewed by at least two researchers appointed by the editorial board: one from the Editorial Board and one independent scientist of the language of origin - English. Reviewers stay anonymous. 

Manuscript requirements

As a guide, articles should be between 6,000 and 10,000 words in length. In case the paper exceeds the normal length, the Editors' consent for its publication is needed. Articles should include the research aim and tasks, with detailed methodology, presenting literature overview on the research object, substantiation of the achieved results and findings, conclusions and a list of references, prepared after journal requirements.   

Manuscripts should be arranged in the following order of presentation. 

First page:  

Title, subtitle (if any), autobiographical note (the author's full name, academic affiliation, telephone, fax and e-mail address and full international contact). Respective affiliations and addresses of co-authors should be clearly indicated. Please also include approximately 50 words of biographical information on each author of the submitted paper. 

Second page: 

(a) A self-contained abstract of up to 150 words, describing the research objective and its conclusions; 

(b) up to five keywords, which encapsulate the principal subjects covered by the article; 

(c) JEL classification, indexing all keywords according to the JEL classification system (please, refer to www.aeaweb.org/journal/jel_class_system.html); and 

(d) a self-contained summary of up to 200 words, describing the article and its conclusions, suitable for translating into the Lithuanian language. 

Subsequent pages: 

Main body of the text with headings, footnotes, a list of references, appendices, tables, figures. 

Technical presentation 

Main body of the text should be printed in Times New Roman, 12pt with single line spacing. Footnotes should be numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals. Headings must be short, clearly defined and numbered, except for Introduction and Conclusions. All tables, figures are expected to back up your research findings. They should be clearly referred to and numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals. They should be placed in the text at the appropriate paragraph (just after its reference). All figures must have captions. In all figures taken or adapted from other sources, a brief note to that effect is obligatory, below the figure.

Keywords  

Authors should also provide up to 5 keywords or descriptors that clearly describe the subject matter of the article. These terms have two purposes: firstly, to help describe the subject content of an article to prospective readers; and, secondly, to index the article for retrieval from a database or bibliography.  

References 

The ISI citations are a must for all contributors (please, refer to http://www.thomsonscientific.com/cgi-bin/jrnlst/jlresults.cgi?PC=MASTER ). References to other publications must be in Harvard style. That is, shown within the text as the first author's name followed by a comma, year of publication and the quoted page number - all in round brackets, e.g. (Doyle, 1994, p.23). If there are more than one author, the following format is used: (McAdam et al., 2001, p.236). At the end of the article a reference list in alphabetical order must be given as follows: 

• For books: surname, initials, (year), title, place of publication, publisher. E.g. Ballou, R.H. (1992), Business Logistics Management, 3rd Edition, Eaglewood Cliffs: Prentice-Hall International Editions.
