Scientific journals

This is a journal that is published in English in the field of Social Sciences; since 2005, it has been included into the international Thomson Scientific database ISI WOS (Web of Science). Senior editor – Prof. Dr. (HP) Dalia Štreimikienė (Vilnius University, Lithuania). Publishers-partners: University of Latvia and Brno University of Technology (Czech Republic). The journal is also cited in international databases JEL (JEL on CD, e-JEL), IBSS, SCOPUS, EBSCO, Cabell’s Directory of Publishing Opportunities.

The periodical publishes original scholarly articles written in English, Lithuanian, Polish and Russian that correspond to the main humanitarian research fields of the faculties: linguistic researches, issues of literary narratives and contexts, influence of advertising discourse, theory and practice of translation. “Respectus Philologicus” publishes scholarly articles, reviews, overviews, and discussions of philological research in the region. The focalization of the journal is conduced to closer cooperation on its pages all scholars who are interested in different facets of and different language units with world and its place in the life of language community. The journal is supposed to be not only regional but also of interdisciplinary character with linguistics integrating different disciplines. The leading trend is supposed to be the analysis of different discursive practices. Consequently, the journal mainly concentrates on cognitive analysis of discourses (fiction, political, scientific, etc.), cognitive strategies of translation, rhetorical problems of communication, semiotic analysis of a text, analysis of political, social and cultural phenomena in different social environments.

Research group of Human ecology

The human ecology research group carries out interdisciplinary research, encompassing social sciences and humanities. The key questions the group focuses on are: the effect on ecologic consciousness, the influence of governmental and non-governmental bodies on environmental management. Their research also includes philosophical, culturological, anthropological and socioeconomic perspectives. Together with Prof. dr. Remigijus Čiegis and Prof. dr. (HP)  Dalia Štreimikienė scientists of the group and of other institutions participate in the COST project IS  0802 under the title “Change of Global Environmental Management: threats and opportunities”.

Cognitive linguistics group

Cognitive linguistics group investigates the rhetoric features of contemporary Russian and Lithuanian political discourse, cultural concepts and mentality, modern rhetorical practice and mass consciousness. The group aims at finding and structuring the apparatus of concepts of cognitive analysis in political discourse. During 2003 – 2010 the group has held about 20 seminars with speakers from  Lithuania and other countries (Prof. dr. (HP) Victor de Munck (USA), Dr. Tatjana Skrebcova (Russia), Prof. dr. (HP) Rūta Marcinkevičienė (Lithuania), Prof. dr. (HP) Charles Woolfson (Scotland), Prof. dr. (HP) Aloyzas Gudavičius (Lithuania), etc.). The results of group’s work are published in a number of scientific articles.
