Privileges of the International Cyber Security EC-Council Academy for VU students and lecturers

With the intention of expanding the perspectives of training cyber security professionals, Vilnius University has become a partner of the EC-Council Academy. This is the first partnership of such kind with Lithuanian higher education institutions. MicrosoftTeams image 7

EC-Council is currently the largest academy of its kind in the world and has a strong influence and credibility in growing, changing and strengthening the culture of cyber security. The Academy's certifications are recognised at a global level and the organisation has developed a number of cybersecurity and e-business certification programmes. These certification programmes are used by companies and organisations such as the FBI, the US Army, Microsoft, IBM and the United Nations.

"After the 9/11 attack in the United States, the Academy’s founder, Jay Bavisi, came up with the idea that in a technology-rich society, such an attack could be carried out via a cyber-attack, and that the cyber-readiness of countries needed to be strengthened to protect the public. This led to a like-minded effort to establish an international knowledge and certification platform in the cybersecurity segment," says associate professor Kęstutis Driaunys, Dean of the Kaunas Faculty at Vilnius University, commenting on the emergence of the partner organisation. "The EC-Council Academy is already active in 145 countries, has twenty years of experience and has certified over 200,000 professionals. We are proud to be members of this community."

"Students of the Information Systems and Cyber Security programme at the Kaunas Faculty of Vilnius University will use the study material of one of the most popular CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker) certificates during the lectures for Methods of Ethical Hacking, so they will be able to prepare for the academy exam and receive the certificate," explained associate professor Šarūnas Grigaliūnas, a lecturer of the programme.

The company, which provides leading online courses and certificates in the field of cyber security, offers special conditions for VU students and lecturers:

• Access to Academia series resources, eBooks, iLabs, lesson plans, syllabi and other resources.
• A scholarship for lecturers seeking certification for all Academia Series certificates, except CPENT and CCISO.a
• Discounts on examinations for Academia Partner members - lecturers and students.
• Discounts on course packages and the opportunity to take the exam for students who have purchased a full course in the Academia series.
• Access to the new EC-Council Essentials MOOC series.
• Access to the CyberQ series overview challenges and skills pathways.
• Access to the annual Hacker Halted events (https://www.hackerhalted.com/ ).
